Here is the first mOnocle-Lash children’s book, kicking off our new
children’s sub-imprint trIcycle-Smash anti-Press, which will feature
books by and/or for the youngest members of the community. Drawing on
Lindsann’s 20-year engagement with sound poetry, on one hand this is a
book of visual/phonetic poetry scores; on the other hand, it is
carefully designed to help babies develop delightful pre-reading
relationships with letters, sounds, and words to provide a springboard
for later learning – to ease into reading without even noticing.
Kid-tested by several families in the Post-Neo orbit over the last two
years!
Kids know: Funny noises are fun to make. Better yet, babies can make
them NOW – even before they can talk! The noises here are also practice
for speaking later. The pictures of Things are practice for
understanding words, names, and letters. The pictures of the Sounds
(that is, the letters) are practice for reading later. Each page has
three little poem-songs to sing with the little one. There’s no wrong
way to make these sounds.
